Community Action Against Racism, Bucks County, Pennsylvania
MISSION STATEMENT:
The purpose of Community Action Against Racism
is to be an active, positive force to increase awareness of the presence of
racism in our community and to take action to dismantle racism and its effect
on the community
THE ROOTS
In 1995 a group of concerned citizens formed a study group
on the subject of racism. Inspired to take action and more directly confront
racism in the Bucks County area, the group opened to all individuals
interested in dismantling racism and has since incorporated as Community
Action Against Racism.
In order to take direct action in dismantling racism, CAAR focuses on the following initiatives:
- Community Outreach:
to organize activities to promote racial harmony, to educate ourselves and our community about racism and effective means of undoing racism, and to include and support youth in the anti-racist movement - Public Relations:
to stay connected with our community through the Internet, local media and literature - Speak Out:
to take positive action to confront forms of racism and to be allies with those of us oppressed by racism
